Merced County, California Inmate Search

In Merced County, California, inmate searches are methods for finding information about persons serving time in prison or jail. An inmate search may reveal information, such as the inmate’s personal data, mugshot, booking date, and expected release date.

To search for inmates in Merced County, record seekers are typically required to use online resources or options maintained by local, state, or federal-level agencies. At the local or county level, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office maintains an online jail roster for all persons serving time in the county’s main jail or the John Latorraca Correctional Center. Searchers can view inmate information on the roster by filling in the required details.

However, the jail roster only lists inmates currently in custody. Information on recently booked or already released inmates is not available on the platform. In contrast, record seekers may search inmate information using an online database maintained by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The database maintains information on inmates serving sentences in state-level correctional centers.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons also offers an online resource for finding inmates serving time in federal penal institutions. To view records on the platform, record seekers may input the inmate’s name or prison ID number. In addition to using an online search platform, record seekers may inquire about inmate information in person at the record custodian agency. For example, county residents may request inmate information by visiting the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at this address:

670 West 22nd Street,

Merced, CA 95340,

Phone: (209) 385-7638

Note: City police departments may maintain a separate inmate roster for arrests within their jurisdiction. Case in point: you may look up inmate information by contacting city police departments like the Merced Police Department or the Dos Palos Police Department.
